Even though the loss of pet is a devastating time for families, a number of people feel that honouring a pet that has passed away helps to deal with the grieving process, as well as remembering them forever For some people they can celebrate their pets life immediately following their passing, for others it can take a long time before they feel ready for this step.....there is no right or wrong time
Here are some ideas on how you can honour the life of your pets that have passed
Create a memory box - these can be a lovely way to keep all your pets beloved items safe and for you to look back on. Some things you could include in the box are collar, paw prints, fur clippings, their favourite toy, a letter to your pet, photos and any sympathy cards you may have received
Personalised art or jewellery - There are so many options these days for wall art to remember your pet. We decided to have a local artist paint a portrait of Rita as well as getting a personalised photo frame which you can attached their collar. It is the same with jewellery. We have many client either using their paw prints to have them engraved onto jewellery, or some chose to have some of their pets ashes made into stunning jewellery so they can always have them with them
Outdoor memorial - if you have an outdoor space, some people create a special place in their garden to remember their pet. This outdoor space can have flowers, an engraved stone, plant a tree, engraved bench....anything that you would like
Pet memorial - The Blue Cross UK offer a free service to allow pet owners to create a memorial online. This facility enables families to create a tribute page for their pet which can include messages, photos, memories etc. This can also be shared with others so they can upload photos and memories that you may not even know about
