Following on from our post regarding children and the euthanasia process, here are some of our favourite children's books to help them deal with the grieving process....
Goodbye Mog by Judith Kerr
This is a lovely book which we feel is suited to a younger audience of children. There is illustrations through the book and is a delicate way to explain the process of death to little ones

Somewhere over the rainbow bridge by Daniel Boey
This book is more for older children (approx 8 years old) and follows the story of a boy who's navigating the loss of his pet dog

The Invisible Leash by Patrice Karst
Probably the most popular book dealing with pet loss. This is more geared for younger children and is full of illustrations to allow children to better understand that their pet is gone but never forgotten

I'll always love you by Hans Wilhelm
We must admit that this is sad story but we feel it addresses grief well and shows the special bond children and pets can have

The Rainbow bridge by Adrian Raeside
This is a lovely little book which explains to children what happens to their pet after they pass and what Pet Paradise looks like after they cross the rainbow bridge. This also has illustrations and is a good option for those who believe in heaven
