As with us humans, you may notice that your once energetic pal, is now slowing down and taking things a slower pace

Here are some tips on how to manage the possible changes you may notice with your pet

The older our pets get, you often see they value some quite space alone to rest. It's important for pets to have a space they recognise as their own so they can go and have these relaxing moments. A nice comfy area with everything in easy reach (such as food & water) is ideal

You may notice that pets who have never gone to the toilet inside the house before, suddenly start going inside. So bear in kind they may need to be let out more or you may need to lay some pads down if you know you can't let them out

In terms of exercise, it's all about gentle and low impact. With their walks, just follow their lead! If you notice they tire quicker or don't want to go as far then don't push them

Just like us humans, if we slow down on the physical activities, then we may notice the scales creeping up, so diet is very important in elderly pets to prevent further issues. There are many senior dog foods out there and most veterinary practices will also hold weight management clinics if you need further assistance
