Our story

Why we started
Last Wishes Mobile Vet
We understand just how important it is to have the opportunity to say goodbye to a beloved pet in the comfort of home, because we’ve experienced that heartbreaking journey ourselves.
Last Wishes Mobile Vet was founded with one simple goal: to give every family the time, space and support to say goodbye peacefully, surrounded by the people and places their pet knows and loves.
Rita's story…
Rita came into Carlos's life in 2010 when she was just five or six weeks old. She had been rescued by a fellow university student, and Carlos immediately offered to give her a home. From that day on, they were inseparable.
Rita travelled extensively with Carlos throughout the UK while he worked as a locum veterinary surgeon, and even accompanied him across much of Europe with her own doggy passport. She wasn't just a pet – she was a constant companion and a cherished member of the family.
A goodbye that
changed everything
In 2022, Rita suddenly became critically ill after collapsing in the garden. She spent the night in intensive care, but by the following day she had lost the use of her back legs, and it became clear that she was not going to recover.
The veterinary team caring for her were exceptional, but despite their kindness, we could see that Rita was frightened and uncomfortable in the unfamiliar hospital environment. As Carlos is a veterinary surgeon, we were fortunate to have the option of bringing her home for her final moments.
The transformation was immediate. As soon as Rita was back in her own home, surrounded by familiar sights, smells and the people she loved, she relaxed completely. She relaxed completely and found peace. We shared one last chicken dinner with her before gathering together in the garden as a family to hold her, comfort her and say our goodbyes.
It was one of the hardest days of our lives, but being able to say goodbye at home, without rushing and in a place where Rita felt safe, brought us enormous comfort.
Our promise to your family
Having worked in veterinary practices for many years, we understand that offering home euthanasia is not always possible. Time pressures, staffing and emergency workloads - particularly during evenings and weekends can make it difficult for practices to provide this service.
That experience inspired us to create Last Wishes Mobile Vet.
Our aim is to help families experience a calm, compassionate and dignified farewell at home, allowing you to spend those precious final moments together at your own pace. Every visit is unhurried, giving you the time, privacy and support to say goodbye in the way that feels right for you and your pet.
